This compact King James Version Bible combines readability with portability. Features include large 11.5-point type, end-of-verse cross reference system, a concise concordance, presentation pages, words of Christ in red, and topical running heads.
For 400 years, the Authorized Version of the Bible--popularly known as the King James Version--has been beloved for its majestic phrasing and stately cadences. No other book has so profoundly influenced our language and our theology. Over time, however, the text has suffered subtle and occasionally troublesome alterations. This edition preserves the original 1611 printing. Word for word and page for page, the text with its original marginal notes, preface, and other introductory material appears as it first did. The sole concession to modernity is a far more readable roman typeface set by nineteenth-century master printers.

A special Bible for collectors, students, and everybody who cherishes the King James Version
Virtuoso book designer and illustrator Barry Moser, many of whose masterpieces are already museum-housed modern classics, devoted nearly five years to the greatest book project of all-a hand-crafted, designed, and illustrated Bible to be published in a special 400-copy limited edition. Now, Viking Studio is proud to make this work of art and devotion available to a broader public in a paperback edition. The Pennyroyal Caxton edition of The Holy Bible is lovingly designed and simply set in black type, subtly accented with red. But its revolutionary impact lies in its illustrations-haunting, sometimes dark but always luminous, described by Newsweek as "engravings with the brooding power of magical realism." No connoisseur of great art or spiritual reader will want to be without this edition. It is a rich heirloom gift for holidays, holy days, and every day.

A major new edition of the King James Bible-faithfully presented for the twenty-first century
Although it is the most important book in the religious life and culture of the English-speaking world, the King James Bible, or Authorized Version of 1611, has never been perfectly represented in print. This edition makes available the translators' intended work with a fidelity never before achieved-allowing the most read, heard, and loved book in the English language to speak with new vigor to modern readers.
The work we have long read as the King James Bible contains numerous changes, both deliberate and accidental, to the text. David Norton has scrupulously collated the established text with the translators' original manuscripts to create this new authoritative edition. In addition, he has modernized and standardized the spelling but left intact the words and grammatical forms, and he has restored most of the original punctuation, which, unlike the standard version, largely adheres to modern practices. Finally, he presents the text in paragraph format, making this King James Bible a fully comprehensible and gratifying read.

The standard editions of the 1611 King James Bible (or Authorised Version) currently available give, with little variation, the text as established by the Oxford edition of 1769. They give the reader, therefore, a seventeenth-century text in mid-eighteenth century clothes - clothes that are neither original nor modern. In this new edition of the King James Version the text has been collated with the translators' original work in order to give the reader as closely as possible the exact text that the translators decided on. It has also been given consistent modern spelling and presentation in order to make it easier to read and study than standard editions. The text is presented is paragraph form, with marginal notes. The type is 10/12.5 Swift.
